Tired of churning out near-identical projects for clients whose main love language is return on investment?

Or maybe you’re fed up sitting behind a screen all day and would rather be out there actually talking to people — using the soft skills that will ultimately set you apart from your peers?

If either of those hit home, keep reading.

I’m working exclusively with a highly regarded, design-led structural engineering consultancy in Central London to help them hire a Project Engineer — ideally someone with around 3–5 years’ experience, either working toward Chartership or recently Chartered.

Here’s the important bit: they care far more about character, curiosity, and attitude than perfect CV symmetry. They’re brilliant at nurturing talent — one recent hire joined with three years’ experience from a slightly different background and is now flying toward Chartership.

They’re also quite selective in the best possible way. They choose work they actually believe in, which means their portfolio leans heavily toward:

  • museums & galleries
  • cultural and community spaces
  • large-scale public artworks
  • carefully chosen residential projects
  • low-carbon, innovative design

Translation: fewer soul-crushing box-tickers, more projects you’re proud to talk about.

They also practise what people keep preaching — work–life balance. A 9-day fortnight is already embedded into the business, not “on trial” or “coming soon”. And no, your salary doesn’t take a hit; in fact, we’d hope to improve it.

If you want:

  • real design influence
  • client-facing responsibility
  • projects with meaning
  • support toward Chartership
  • and time to actually live your life

…then this could be a very good move.

If you’d like the confidential details, get in touch — happy to talk it through privately.
