Structural Engineer
Not every structural engineering consultancy is built the same.
Some chase scale. Some chase turnover. Others quietly build a reputation so strong that their name carries far more weight than their headcount suggests.
This is one of those firms.
For the last four years, I’ve partnered closely with this boutique structural engineering consultancy, watching them grow by around 50% while maintaining the qualities that made them special in the first place. Today, they’re a team of around 15 exceptionally talented engineers and designers, with ambitions to continue growing steadily over the coming years.
Their work is anything but ordinary.
If you’re the kind of engineer who gets excited by projects that challenge convention, spark creativity, and leave a lasting impact, you’ll feel right at home here.
You’ll find yourself contributing to an extraordinary portfolio that spans:
- Cultural and heritage projects
- Theatres, museums and galleries
- Pavilions and public installations
- Sculptures and event structures
- High-end private residential schemes
- Architecturally ambitious “Grand Designs” style homes
Alongside their impressive project portfolio, this is a consultancy genuinely pushing the boundaries of modern engineering. Computational design, automation, digital workflows and the creation of bespoke tools are embedded into how they work, continually improving both efficiency and creativity.
Why this role?
The business is currently looking to strengthen its engineering team with someone who has approximately 2-3.5 years of experience.
Interestingly, this isn’t simply a replacement hire.
The leadership team has taken a thoughtful look at their structure and identified an opportunity to create more balance within the business. They’re intentionally investing in the next generation of engineers, ensuring senior staff have people to mentor, develop and delegate responsibility to.
For you, that means something quite valuable:
You’ll receive the support you’d expect from highly experienced engineers, but you’ll also gain exposure and responsibility far earlier than you might in a larger organisation.
The senior engineers here want to mentor. They want to develop future leaders. And the company already has a proven track record of helping talented engineers accelerate their careers.
This is the type of business that listens, adapts and invests in its people.
What they’re looking for
You’ll likely have:
- 2-3.5 years of structural engineering experience
- A strong structural engineering or architectural engineering background
- Experience working on UK-based projects
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- A genuine interest in creative and architecturally driven engineering
Most importantly, you’ll be someone who enjoys thinking differently and wants to contribute to projects that stand out from the crowd.
The Package
- £37,000 - £43,000 salary
- 9-day fortnight
- Performance bonus
- 20 days annual leave
- Plus an additional 26 days off per year through the 9-day fortnight arrangement
- Central London office
If you’re looking for a role where you’ll be trusted, developed, challenged and exposed to genuinely unique engineering projects, this is an opportunity well worth exploring.
